Joaquin told me today that he wants to marry me when he gets older.
I think this is the most adorable thing ever!!!!
I think this is the most adorable thing ever!!!!
Of course he will be out of this stage soon, where I won’t be
the super hero, cool, best friend mom forever.
But for now I will enjoy these moments.

This is how our conversation went when I picked him up from school today.
Mom: How was your day a school? (followed by a kiss)
Joaquin: It was good, I played with my friends, and I made something for you that you are going to like.
Mom: Really???? I can’t wait to see it. So what else did you do at school today?
Joaquin: Open up what I made for you.
Mom: Okay (so I unrolled the paper and I saw the most beautiful picture that a 3yr old could have drawn..............of course, every mom would say that about their kids drawings). (trying to make out what the picture was, I said:) WOW, this is awesome and SOOOO beautiful. What is it?
Joaquin: It’s you getting married with your wedding dress and makeup.
Mom: WOW, this is me? I LOVE IT!!!!
Joaquin: Mom, when I get older I’m going to marry you. You look so beautiful when you got married. I like the wedding pictures of you when dad is scratching your back, like you scratch my back when I go to bed.
Mom: (immediately I started to giggle and agreed with him) YES that is right, dad is scratching my back. But what made you draw this picture today during art? And if you marry me when you get older, what about dad? I’m already married to dad.
Joaquin: Because you look so beautiful when you got married and when I grow up I’m going to marry you too.
Mom: Okay, what about dad, he is going to be sad. I can’t leave dad.
Joaquin: He won’t be sad mom; he has little brother (Diego) who he can play with.
After our conversation I took him to Sonics’ for a milk shake (his favorite) and we drove home. Changing the subject, we talked about what he did the rest of the day at school.
As I prepared dinner today and waited for Robert to get home from work, I called him and told him quickly on the phone about my new “LITTLE FIANCE”…………….he giggled and said “wonder why he thought of that today”. We were both clueless, but thought it was cute.
After Robert got home and we prepared to sit down for dinner,
Joaquin brought it up to him.
Joaquin brought it up to him.
Robert sadly said, well what about me, what will I do then with out mom?
Joaquin just pointed at his brother and said
you can stay with Diego, he loves you too.
you can stay with Diego, he loves you too.
We didn't put to much thought into it after our little converstation.
The 4 of us sat down for our family dinner time and prayed for our meal
and talked about other things.

I pined the drawing that Joaquin drew tonight in our bedroom.
But I will be working on framing it so it can be an art to our bedroom.

I must say, his drawing is not bad for a 3 year old.
* the rainbow lines on the top is my wedding veil
* my eyes are the 2 blue stars inside the red circles
* i'm wearing red lipstick
* and the marks on my face is my "make up"

As we were getting ready to sleep, I thought about that country song
(by: Steve Wariner “I’m already taken”)
(by: Steve Wariner “I’m already taken”)
The lyrics go like this:
My little third grade hand wrote I love you
On a note of yellow paper
And sent it to the front of the row to a little blonde-haired girl
The blonde-haired girl just opened it and read it to herself
I was so embarrassed when she turned around and said
I'm already taken
You spoke up too late
I love somebody else
So you'll just have to wait
The years flew by so quickly
And there we were in junior high
I realized that I still loved her so
So I called her up and told her exactly how I felt
Then she said there's something that you really ought to know
I'm already taken
You spoke up too late
I love somebody else
So you'll just have to wait
So wait I did and never changed my love for that little blonde-haired girl
Whos' now the mother of our little blonde-haired boy
Who's to our hearts so close
I hate to think how fast he's growing up
Last night I overheard them as she tucked him into bed
He said, Mommy will you marry me
And this is what she said
I'm already taken
You spoke up too late
I love your daddy son
So you'll just have to wait
I'm already taken
You spoke up too late
I love your daddy son
So you'll just have to wait
On a note of yellow paper
And sent it to the front of the row to a little blonde-haired girl
The blonde-haired girl just opened it and read it to herself

Like I mentioned in the beginning of this blog, I know this stage won’t last forever, but I will enjoy it for now.
I am the world to my sons right now and I will stay on this ride and enjoy it for as long as it last.

This is our wedding picture
"where Robert is scratching my back" almost 9 years ago.
(the simple innocence of our little ones)
